Velma Arends
Velma Arends, 45, of Smithville, MO passed away, November 22, 2025.
She was born on May 18, 1980 in Junction City, KS and graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1999.
On July 17, 2004 she was united in marriage to Jason Arends. After their marriage they lived in Riverside and Braymer and later Smithville, MO where they made their home.
Velma was a loving dedicated mother that could always be counted on, and she was an amazing wife. She loved puzzles, reading and enjoyed movie time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Harris and her mother, Helen (McPherson) Swope.
Velma is survived by her husband, Jason; children, Steven Arends and Sara Arends; sister Carrie Cockriel; brother, Brian Harris; other relatives and many friends.
No services will be held.
Donations may be made in her memory to Jason Arends.

Oh my sweet Velma
our kids are the reason we met and we became close friends very quickly. you were a great 2nd grammy to beautiful Brooklyn. shes going to be crushed when she finds out her Velma is no more. rest easy my friend. fly high . until we meet again.
