In Remembrance Of

Tommie Jones
Thomas “Tommie” Jones, 55, of Platte City, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on June 1, 2026.
Tommie was born on November 2, 1970, to Thomas Henry Jones Jr. and Candace (Anderson) Kincaid in Atchison, Kansas. He grew up in Weston, Missouri, where he made lifelong memories and graduated from West Platte High School with the Class of 1989.
From a young age, Tommie was fascinated by classic cars. As a teenager and young adult, he channeled that passion into building and running derby cars, competing at the Platte County Fair. He spent his early years working various jobs in the automotive industry, including a foundational time at Sunny Hill Motors where he met several of his closest, lifelong friends—a period of his life he always looked back on as a true highlight.
A natural “jack of all trades,” Tommie was an entrepreneur at heart. He went on to become a local small business owner, operating his own car sales business in Weston, as well as owning and operating The Bunkhouse Bar and Restaurant. Later in life, he pivoted his talents to the open road, building a successful career as a truck driver for YRC and other carriers for a number of years.
Outside of his professional life, Tommie was a man of many passions. Raised on a steady diet of classic rock and country music, he loved attending concerts with his friends and family. He was also a deeply compassionate animal lover who owned several dogs and cats over the years; truth be told, he never met an animal he didn’t want to bring home. Above all, Tommie cherished his family. He frequently reminisced about coaching his daughter’s grade school sports teams, always calling those days one of the absolute highlights of his life. Tommie lived a life full of adventures, and he was deeply loved by many.
Tommie was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Jones, Jr. and Candace Kincaid.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Kylee Gregg of Kansas City; his sisters, Gina King of Olathe, Kansas, and Peggy Townsend of Prudenville, Michigan; and his brother, Randy Jones of Eaton, Ohio.
At Tommie’s request, there will be no formal funeral services. His family appreciates your love, support, and shared memories during this time.

I’ll forever remember Tommie as a kind and joyful soul. He was much more shy and sensitive than he let on. These are the things that made him so lovable. So many great memories that I’ll always cherish and I talk about frequently. My condolences to the family and Rest in Peace my friend. You’ve done well and should be very proud.

This breaks my heart. I grew up with Tommie and talked to him last about a year ago on the phone. We talked about our kids, our lives, and got caught up on each other’s happenings. Tommie was one of the most genuine, down to earth, people you could ever find. I adored his personality and his true kind heart. I will miss you, and the world will miss you, Tommie.
