In Remembrance Of

Tom Lawrence
Thomas Michael Lawrence met Jesus on August 19, 2025.
He was born July 27, 1961, in La Crosse, Wisconsin to Lorraine Ruth Liebel and George Henry Lawrence Sr. Tom grew up in in Onalaska, WI and graduated from Onalaska High School.
He later moved to Kansas City where he worked as an aircraft mechanic for TWA/American Airlines for 28 years, then became a railroad carman for BNSF. Tom loved to sing Karaoke, Garden, Fish, and work on airplanes. Tom had two children Adam and Jessica Lawrence.
On September 27th, 2008, he was united in marriage to Cindy, he gained not only a wife but bonus children Savannah and Jacob. After their marriage, they lived in Gower, MO and later settled down in Platte County where they made their home.
Tom was an active member of his church, the Rock of KC. Tom had a faith that few people have, let alone witness firsthand. His faith was tested by trials – from one type of cancer to the next, from heart failure, to lost jobs, to literal cardiac arrest and resuscitation from CPR. He never complained and he never stopped praising the Lord. He had the perspective that each trial faced was just another testimony to how good and gracious our God is. His faith inspires not only those who knew him, but also everyone who heard his story. He always knew that his pain carried tremendous purpose, and it still does even after death. The story of a man whose faith could not be shaken. Who faced death time and time again but knew it was already defeated by the Lord our God. We encourage you to continue to share Tom’s story of faith, so that a similar faith can arise in others. Because bringing other people to the Lord and bringing glory to God was the goal of Tom’s life all along, and it is a goal he will continue to achieve even though he is no longer with us here on earth.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents George and Lorraine Lawrence; and his brothers Richard Lawrence, Kenneth Lawrence, and Gary Lawrence; and sister-in-law Anita Lawrence
Tom is survived by his wife Cindy Lawrence; children Jessica (Matt) Jolly, Adam Lawrence, Savannah Gay and Jacob Miller; he was Grand-Haw to Oliver, Silas and Avery; his siblings Bill (Jean) Lawrence, Nancy (Robert) Frisch, Mary Ellen Heath, Geroge Lawrence, Rosalie (Mark) Pedretti, Joseph (Elaine) Lawrence, Patrick (Rhonda) Lawrence, and Robert (Julie) Lawrence; mother and father-in-law Donna Rehm and Kent (Nancy) Oiler; brothers and sisters in laws Carolyn Lawrence, Cathy Oiler, Anne Oiler, Mike Oiler, JB Rehm, Jr., Sherry (Randy) Walker and Jeff (Carol) Carter; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. with Funeral Services at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 23rd at the Rock of KC 12750 N Winan Rd, Kansas City, MO, 64163

I did know Tom but read his obituary about his faith filled life which inspired me to respond in this writing. I have not had the trials Tom had but have gone through cancer where my faith was tested, grown and continues to this day. Thank you for sharing Tom’s faith filled journey. He was truly God’s disciple. God bless you, your family and all of those people whose lives were blessed by brushing shoulders with him.

I just want to say that although I didnt get as much time with Tom as most of you, I know that he greeted me with love and kindness. He was awesome and always positive no matter what. Gods candle burned bright in him for sure. I know Jesus must have been ready for his son back. Praying for Cindy and everyone else in the family……God only gives his strongest warriors the hardest battles because he know what we can handle. Praying for your strength and healing.

I’ve known Tom for about the last 15 years through extended family, He was a very kind, gentle & loving man. He had his health battles and stayed very strong & steadfast in his faith & commitment to our Father in Heaven during those trying times.
We know he is with God & Jesus and is no longer ill or suffering.
His joy for life shined through every time you were around him.
God Bless Cindy, Savannah, Blake and all of Tom’s family and friends. You are all in my prayers 🙏
God Bless Always ❤️

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Tom at BNSF railroad. He was always my pick as a partner when I had the chance to chose. He was a hard worker and great man. He always wanted to help everyone any way he could. I always knew I could depend on Tom, he was always a great partner, friend and very smart fellow. I had a background in aircraft maintenance like Tom did, so we had a lot in common. I always enjoyed talking with him and he made my time at the railroad interesting and fun. I am praying for Jesus to comfort his family. 🙏
