Thelma Martin
Thelma Louise Martin was born at home in Versailles, Missouri, on December 28, 1928, to Anna Brooks Chapman and Claude Johnson. She passed away on May 20, 2026.
She married Raymond Lee Martin on November 17, 1947, and together they had nine children. They made their home in Parkville and moved to the farm south of Platte City in 1962. She was a homemaker, gardener, artist, and grandmother (16), great grandmother (22) and great-great grandmother (10).
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 55 years Ray, sons Johnny and Kevin, daughter, Penny Evertson, grandsons, Brandon, Mickey and Matthew Martin; and sons in law, Claude Evertson, Bill Peek, Ronnie Brandt and George Fugett.
She was one of eight children and only two of them survive her, Claudette Gray, Kansas City, and Joanne McKenzie, Peculiar. She is survived by her children and son and daughter-in-law, Sharon Brandt, Vicky Fugett, Nancy Peek, Patti (Jerre) Blankenship, and Liz (Randy) Canole; and son Buddy (Sheila). She was a member of the First Christian Church of Ferrelview and she spent her life caring for her children.
Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 26th at First Christian Church of Ferrelview with visitation one hour prior.
Burial: Platte City Cemetery
Family suggests memorials to First Christian Church of Ferrelview Youth Program.

I was so sorry to read of your Mother’s passing. I grew up coming to your house and your Mother and Father were always so nice. I know you all will miss her but I know Penny is taking care of her in heaven.
