Perry Murphy
Perry Roderick Murphy, 86, of Smithville, MO passed away November 8, 2025.
He was born on July 26, 1939, to Guy Lester and Lora Dean (Taylor) Murphy in Smithville, MO where he grew up and in 1957, he graduated from Smithville High School. Perry served his country in the U.S. Navy.
On October 28, 1960, he was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Dick. After their marriage they lived in Kansas City and later moved to Smithville where they made their home.
Perry was a truck driver for Georgia Pacific for over 33 years with no accidents. He enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Guy Murphy and Lora Dean Murphy, his brothers and sisters Betty, Donna, Dwaine, and Gary, his daughter Jeanie Branch and his son Timothy Murphy.
Perry is survived by his wife Barbara; his children Melinda (Terry) Jones and Kent (Angelia) Murphy; grandchildren Brooke (Evan) Groenenboom and Megan Preston; two great-grandsons Breck and Knox; other relatives and many friends.
Private family graveside services will be held at Ridgely Cemetery, Ridgely, MO.

We only recently learned of Mr. Murphy’s passing. We have lived down the street for almost 30 years. We had many great conversations while out walking. We will miss seeing him tooling around in the yard. Our deepest condolences.
