Marianne Vetor
Marianne Marie Collette Vetor passed away on the 7th day of August, 2026. She was 71 years of age.
Marianne Marie was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 19th, 1955 to Robert and Theresa Collette and the youngest of six children. She had her first three children in Lakeland, Florida but eventually moved to St. Louis, Missouri where she remained for thirty-years and raised her eight children. For the final ten years of her life she settled in Kansas City, Missouri to be closer to her children and grandchildren.
Marie was a beloved homemaker, daycare professional, and caretaker. She had the gift of gab and never met a stranger she didn’t want to brag about her children to, including the server at a restaurant or the grocery store clerk. Marianne cared deeply for her community. She spent her time avidly reading, caring for her pets, the neighborhood animals, and, most importantly, spending time with her family and hosting various gatherings at her home.
She is survived by her eight children: Courtney, Kansas City, MO; Alexandra, Kansas City, MO; Amanda (Brad), Branson, MO; Andrew, Kansas City, MO; Ivy, Kansas City, MO; Lucille (John Michael), Kansas City, MO; David III (Roda) Bohol, Philippines; and Clark (Christine), Oceanside, CA; and her seven grandchildren: Maribella, Cade, Grace Marie, John Patrick, Ryzza, Colin, and Davy.
Marie was preceded in death by 3 of her siblings (Louis, Nancy, Lorna Mae), and survived by two sisters (Jeanene Moenckmeier and Jeanette Allen).
A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help located at 3333 Broadway Blvd, Kansas City, Missouri on the 17th of August, 2026 at 9 o’clock in the morning.

I still haven’t absorbed the impact of loosing Marie. She’s been in my life as long as I can remember (she was 3 and I was 4 when we became friends) and a constant north star to talk to for major events, concerns and joys. I’ll miss hearing stories about all of you kids and grandkids. She loved telling me of all of the happenings and she loved you all so much. I’m grateful that the last few years we were in the same city and able to enjoy each others company in person and I’ll cherish those days. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t the for the influence of the Collette family who exposed me to so much of the world by taking me along on family vacations in Florida, sharing their large family on trips to Michigan and Wisconsin (even a few family reunions) and Mrs. Collette’s resale business where she included Marie and I to pack up the van the night before and the go, in the wee hours to the market to sell goods. We also accompanied her parents to auctions to buy more product. Marie’s yard was the size of 5 large lots and filled with a play house, swing set, swimming pool, a huge garden and all kinds of things to climb on and play around. Marie and I always had fun doing these things and our friendship just grew as the years went by.. Rest well my friend I’ll miss you greatly.
