Lewis Armstrong
Lewis Edward Armstrong, 90, of Platte City, MO passed away March 17, 2026.
He was born on September 22, 1935, to Charles Edward and Frances Marie (Oehler) Armstrong in Halltown, MO. Lewis grew up in Elwood, KS and in 1953 he graduated from Elwood High School. He served his country in the U.S. Airforce from 1956-1960.
On December 31, 1958, he was united in marriage to Elsie M. Humm. After their marriage they lived in Limestone, Maine on the Loring Airforce Base. After his honorable discharge, they moved to Lohrville, IA where they farmed. In 1969, Lewis became a computer operator, and they moved to Platte City, MO where he worked for EPI in Kansas City, KS until his retirement. After his retirement he was a school bus driver for the Platte County School District for several years.
Lewis was an active member of the Hoover Christian Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He enjoyed reading, camping and most of all, he loved being with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Frances Armstrong and his brother David Armstrong.
Lewis is survived by his wife Elsie Armstrong; his children Angela (Bill) Casselman, Laquetta (Troy) Lacour, Blake (Susan) Armstrong, Matthew (Beth) Armstrong, Michael (Lynette) Armstrong, and Jason (Stacy) Armstrong; grandchildren Rebecca, Sarah (Darryl), Justin, Hannah (fiancé Kyle), Morgan, Elijah, Emma, Micah, Caleb, Quinn (Olivia), Anthony (Hannah), McKenna, Heather, and Corinne; great-grandchildren Damien, Dominic, Malakai, Corben, Nadia, Kadence, Levi, Tristan, Oaklynn, Hunter, and Wrenley; brothers Gary L. (Carol) Armstrong and Charles “Lee” Armstrong; sister Katie Nell Yeik; several half siblings; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m. with Funeral Services at 4:00 p.m. Monday, March 30th at Hoover Christian Church, Platte City, MO.
Graveside Service will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday March 31st at Lanesboro Cemetery in Lanesboro, Iowa.
Donations may be made to Hoover Christian Church, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, the Ronald McDonald House or the Wounded Warrior Foundation.
