Kevin Martin
James “Kevin” Martin, 63, of Platte City, MO passed away, November 29, 2025.
He was born on February 7, 1962, the youngest of nine children born to Raymond Lee and Thelma Louise Martin. He was born and raised on the family farm in Platte County, Missouri, and lived most of his life there until he had to move to a care facility due to an automobile accident in 2003 that left him a paraplegic. He was able to stay home for several years with the help of his mother and brother Buddy but eventually required 24/7 care.
Kevin graduated from Platte County High School and worked for farmers in the area, Jim Jeans and Hal Swaney, to mention a couple. He and his nephews, Bill and Scott, formed a roofing company called Precision Roofing. He then worked for Zantop Airlines as a mechanic and enjoyed travel as a benefit of that job. He later was a laborer and a member of the construction industries laborers union where he worked in a variety of jobs including highway work which he did not like due to all the crazy people who went speeding by them while they were working on the road. He did enjoy working on jobs with his brother, Buddy, and his brother-in-law, Ronnie Brandt and Tommy Joe Wallingford. He had a love for model airplanes and loud hard rock music.
He is survived by his son who he loved very much, James Kevin Martin, his mother, Thelma Martin, sisters, brothers, and brothers and sisters-in-law, Sharon Brandt, Vicky Fugett, Nancy Peek, Patti (Jerre) Blankenship, Liz (Randy) Canole, and Buddy (Sheila) Martin. He has many nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Martin, a brother, John Martin, a sister, Penny Evertson Andre, brothers-in-law Bill Peek, Ronnie Brandt and George Fugett and nephews Matthew, Mickey and Brandon Martin.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 8th at the First Christian Church of Ferrelview with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial: Platte City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to First Christian Church of Ferrelview Youth Program, 117 Ona Street, Ferrelview, MO.

Kevin was a sweet young boy when we all were growing up. He is now with the lord, his parents, his loving sister Penny and the rest of his family who preceded him to heaven. His car wreck took his walking away from him but he is now moving his body with the lord. I know him and Penny ran to each other with arms out for a hug. Prayers to the Martin family🩷🙏💙

So sorry to hear of Kevin’s passing. I worked with Kevin at Zantop years ago. He was a hard worker and dependable. And the stories I could tell. He was quite the character and enjoyable to be around. I hope the family can find comfort in the memories that affected so many that knew him.
