John Knight
John David Knight, 75, of Lawson, MO passed away May 13, 2026.
He was born on July 16, 1950, to Desmon and Betty Elizabeth (Groves) Knight in Viola, Arkansas. John grew up in northeast and southside of the Kansas City area and graduated from Ruskin High School in 1968. John served his country in the U.S. Airforce, where he was stationed in Thailand and was the crew chief for the F-105 Thunderchief Aircraft. He also flew many missions into Vietnam battle zones to collect sensitive data from downed aircraft during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge he returned to the Kansas City area.
November 26, 1977, he was united in marriage to Judy Kay Day. After their marriage they lived in Ruskin Heights in Kansas City and in 1992 they moved to rural Lawson, MO where they made their home.
John was a drywall finisher for over 30 years. He started Day N Knight Boxing Club in 1994, where he trained multiple Golden Gloves Champions and one National Champion. He was a very good artist and enjoyed painting, fishing, having BBQ’s and watching the KC Chiefs while “Unleashing the Beast”.
He was preceded in death by his parents Desmon and Betty Knight and his granddaughter Sarah.
John is survived by his wife Judy Knight; children Richard (Rebecca) Knight, Angela Winchester, Nicholas (Felisa) Knight, Desmon Knight and Jonathan Knight; grandchildren Cheyanne, Logan, Andrew, Taylor, Sienna, Savannah, Luke, Dominic, and Natalie; great-grandson Maverick; sister Elaine Marbery; other relatives and many friends.
Military Honors and Service will be at 2:00 p.m. with Celebration of Life following the service Saturday, May 23rd at his home 8580 SE 210 Street, Lawson, MO, 64062.
