Joann Brinton
Joann Brinton, 82, of Gower, MO passed away, May 8, 2026.
She was born on June 3, 1943 to Glenn and Elnora (Anderson) Wheeler in St. Joseph, MO. She grew up in St. Joseph and graduated from Benton High School in 1961.
On November 24, 1961 she married her high school sweetheart, Ronald Brinton. After their marriage they lived in Faucett, Excelsior Springs, and moved to Gower in 1964 where they made their home.
Joann raised her family and later was a para-professional and worked in the cafeteria at East Buchanan Elementary. Her family was the most important part of her life. They traveled often to visit their Texas grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Roger Wheeler, son-in-law, Jim Smith, and her granddaughter, Justine Buril.
Joann is survived by her husband, Ronnie; children, Lisa (Rick) Simanowitz, Deana (Basil) Franks, Chris (Angel) Brinton, Chad (Erin) Brinton; grandchildren, Jenise McCarthy, Michael Smith, Jordan (Tommy) Uriegas, Andrew Brinton, Noah Brinton, Allison Brinton, Kamau Franks, Cade Brinton, Nick Simanowitz, Brandi (Edwin) Dennis, Logan Clinton, Jayden Brinton; four great-grandchildren, Ella McCarthy, and Eliana, Tommy, and Ezekiel Uriegas; brothers, Mike Wheeler and Robbie Wheeler; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 14th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial: Allen Cemetery
Donations may be made to the Gower Convalescent Center.
