Jeff Mauzey
Jeffrey Ryan Mauzey, 46, of Liberty, MO passed away July 15, 2026.
He was born on January 2, 1980, to James Oliver and Virginia Lorraine (Henderson) Mauzey in North Kansas City, MO. Jeff grew up in Liberty and in 1998 he graduated from Liberty High School. He received his bachelor’s degree at MU in Columbia and his master’s degree from UMKC.
Jeff worked for 20+ years for Oracle formerly Cerner in Kansas City. He enjoyed traveling, cooking, reading, taking pictures, learning new languages by reading and most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Oliver Bristow “Bud” and Lorene Mauzey and Clell and Virginia Henderson.
Jeff is survived by his parents Jim and Virginia Mauzey; his brother Sim (fiancé Wendy) Mauzey; his sister Connie (John) Williams nieces and nephews Benjamin, Liam and Emily; a large extended family and many friends.
Visitation will be from 12:00-1:30 p.m. with a Celebration of Life Service at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 23rd at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home in Smithville, MO.
Donations may be made to Mt. Olivet Church or Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Jeff’s passing. I had the privilege of working with Jeff for nearly 18 years in a variety of roles, and throughout that time he was always the same kind, thoughtful, and genuine person. His calm demeanor and respectful approach made a lasting impression on everyone who had the opportunity to work with him.
Jeff will be greatly missed, both professionally and personally. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him. May you find comfort in value he brought our world and the memories he leaves behind.

I met Jeff sometime in 2005 (as I recall) at various French conversation gatherings in KC. Like him, I studied the French language in France. Unlike him, I failed to master the language on anything like the same level. We could converse, of course. But Jeff had a phenominal ear and managed to develop a native like facility with the language that was remarkable to foreign and native speakers alike. I last saw Jeff probably some 20 years ago. But I remember like it was yesterday how he carried himself with talent, humility and kindness. To all his family and friends, I’m so sorry for your loss.

Jeff was an extraordinary person. I feel fortunate to have worked with him, but more importantly, to have called him a friend. Reliable, kind, and witty, he was truly one of a kind. I will never forget his sense of humor and how he could always make me smile through our shared love of 80s references and goofy memes. I will truly miss him. My deepest condolences to his family during this difficult time. He was a beautiful person.

Sometimes there are no words that can reveal the feelings of the heart but please accept my deepest sympathy for you during this time.
Jeff was a dear friend of mine; a friendship that grew from our years of working together at Cerner. I not only truly enjoyed working with him but also spending time with him outside of Cerner/Oracle.
Cherished friends are hard to come by – Jeff was a cherished friend to me, and I will miss him terribly.

This breaks my heart incredibly. he interviewed me at Cerner in French 23 years ago and was key to me getting hired. He trained me and we were part of a group of inseparable coworkers and great friends. This makes me so sad. He was so silly and fun and unique. this is hard to fathom and was truly a bright light on any given day.
