James Dale DeWitt, Jr.
James Dale DeWitt, Jr., 82, of Smithville, MO passed away July 1, 2026.
He was born on August 3, 1943, in Hopkinsville, KY to James Dale DeWitt, Sr. and Addah Irene (Provo) DeWitt. James grew up in Madison, KS and graduated from Madison High School. He served his country in the U.S. Airforce. After his honorable discharge he worked for TWA in Kansas City, MO and retired after 30 years of service.
James had many hobbies. He was an avid fisherman, winning many bass tournaments and always had fishing stories. He was a big NASCAR fan and enjoyed hunting with his son and grandsons. He especially loved his dogs, Hoover, Wishbone and Lily.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
James leaves behind his wife Sarah Johnson DeWitt; his two sons Bradley (Roger) and Brett (Terri); two grandsons Brandon and Weston (Emily); and his brother Ron (Sarah). He will be remembered by many family and friends.
Family graveside services will be held at a later date.

Sarah, I am so sorry to hear of Dale’s passing. Please know that our Thoughts and Prayers for Comfort and Strength are with you. That makes three Boys of our little School passing to quickly. I’m not sure that I like this time in our life! our Thoughts are with you, Donna and Phill.
