Gerrie Collier
Gerrie Collier, 94, of Smithville, MO passed away, August 11, 2026. She was a cherished mother, aunt, grandma, and friend.
Gerrie was born on September 15, 1931 in Lawrence, KS to Willis Melvin and Myrtle Gladys (Todd) Shrimplin. She graduated from Holcomb High School.
Gerrie was united in marriage to Ernest “Louis” Collier on December 22, 1950. Together they raised five children and later two nieces.
She worked in the cafeteria at Smithville High School for many years. Gerrie was an avid collector of knick-knacks and enjoyed traveling and garage sales. Gerrie was a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years and the local TOPS club (Take Off Pounds Sensibly).
She was preceded in death by her husband Louis; daughters, Janet Mudd and Sherry Whitfield; niece/daughter, Marl Lynne Phillips; sons-in-law, Tom Fuller, Jr and Donnie Summers; brothers, Marvin Shrimplin, Billie Joe Shrimplin, and Floyd Shrimplin; brother-in-law, David Paasch; sisters-in-law, Beverly Shrimplin, Bonnie Shrimplin, Julia Shrimplin, and Betty (Donald) Edwards.
Gerrie is survived by her daughters, Judy (Tom) Taylor and Tina Summers; son, Charles Collier; niece/daughter, Lea Anne (Mike) Leonard; sons-in-law, Larry (Linda) Mudd and Dennis (Debbie) Whitfield; sister, Gladys Paasch; fifteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-granddaughters; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service with Eastern Star Service: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 22nd at the Mt. Olivet Christian Church in Smithville with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial: Ridgely Cemetery, Ridgely, MO.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mt. Olivet Christian Church or Ridgely Cemetery. Donations and cards c/o Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, PO Box 167, Gower, MO 64454.

My Aunt Gerrie, a larger than life women. I know she is with all our loved ones in heaven. but she will be missed here everyday.

Our deepest condolences to family and friends. We knew Gerrie for a couple of years at Smithville activity center, she was very friendly and kind lady, We enjoyed her jokes that she graciously told us before lunch. We missed her greatly.
