In Remembrance Of

Erica Heishman
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Erica Lynn Wallingford Heishman, 54, of Platte City, Missouri, on October 6, 2025.
Erica was born on September 25, 1971, in Willmar, Minnesota, to Gary Lynn and Bonnie Mae (Larson) Wallingford. She graduated from Platte County R-3 High School, where she was active in Concert Swing Choir, Theater, and Journalism.
She began her career in customer service by following in her father’s footsteps at Mobile Oil.
After the facility closed, she continued her career at Platte-Clay Electric, where she rose to the position of Customer Service Supervisor. Erica later worked for Lockheed Martin, a local cleaning service, and eventually owned and operated her own cleaning business in Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
Erica was best known for her deep love of family and friends. Being a mother to Kayla and Jacob was the greatest joy of her life, and she was always their biggest supporter. Later, she met her best friend and life partner, Michael Lehmann, with whom she shared a close and loving bond.
Outgoing and warm-hearted, Erica never met a stranger. Her smile and infectious laugh brought joy to those around her. She was an amazing cook who loved feeding others, especially while grilling during fall Chiefs games. Erica also enjoyed gardening, camping, kayaking, boat rides, and cheering on her beloved Kansas City Chiefs. She had a strong faith in Jesus and found comfort and connection through prayer, especially with her dear friend Carey.
Erica was preceded in death by her father, Gary Wallingford, and her grandson, Samuel May.
She is survived by her children, Kayla (Levi) McClain and Jacob Heishman; grandchildren, Cody Heishman and the soon-to-arrive Zane McClain; mother, Bonnie Wallingford; sisters, Camille Wallingford, Leah (Jeff) Melsha, Christy (Todd) Gair, and Katelynn Armstrong; life partner, Michael Lehmann; his children, Olivia, Nate, and Elizabeth Lehmann; and his grandchildren, Aly and Morgan. Erica is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends.
Visitation: 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, October 10th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home in Smithville, MO.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 11th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home in Smithville, MO.

Sending prayers to the family. I am glad I got to get to know Erica the few years I attended Platte County R-III and while I continued to live in Platte City. I lived just about 2 blocks from the family. Erica was always such a nice person with a good sense of humor. FLY HIGH ERICA!!!
