Dennis Cummings
Dennis Eugene Cummings, 79, of Smithville, MO passed away June 21, 2026.
He was born on February 6, 1947, to William Harold and Georgia Mae Donna (Hemphill) Cummings in Barstow, California. Dennis grew up in the Kansas City area until he was 16 when he moved to Yakima, Washington. In 1979, he moved to Smithville, MO where he made his home and raised his four children Willie, Dennis “Denny”, Jeff and Kara.
Dennis was a truck driver until the mid 1980’s when he went to work for MODOT where he retired after 15 years of service. He enjoyed working on and restoring old cars, buying tools and spending time at the farm.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Willie Cummings.
Dennis is survived by his children Denny (Julie) Cummings, Jeff Cummings and Kara (John) Cummings; his children’s mother Donna Cummings; his grandchildren Emily (D.J.) Maupin, Wyatt Cummings, Olivia (fiancé Anthony) Cummings, Ashley Cummings, Kat Cummings and Liam Anderson; his sister Diana; several other siblings, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home in Smithville, MO.
