In Remembrance Of

Dave Brooks
David N. Brooks, of Platte City, Missouri, and born in Wymore, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025, at 3:45 a.m. He is preceded in death by his father, Emil Brooks, his mother, Opal Brooks, and his siblings, Elaine Brooks and Roger Brooks. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann Brooks.
Dave was a steady and respected presence in Platte City. He served three terms as Mayor, leading with focus, determination, and the conservative principles that guided his life. In 2008, he received the W.R. Fox Citizenship Award for six years of dedicated public service—an honor that reflected his meaningful impact on the community.
Prior to public office, Dave served in the United States Navy and later built careers in law enforcement and the insurance profession. Whether wearing the badge or helping families plan for the future, he approached every role with integrity and a commitment to service.
Well known throughout Platte City, Dave leaves behind a legacy of leadership, loyalty, and the deep relationships he built with longtime friends, neighbors, and colleagues.
At home, he and Mary Ann shared a heartfelt dedication to animal rescue, opening their doors to countless animals in need and giving many a second chance at life.
Funeral services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in Dave’s honor to the Wounded Warrior Project, a charity he proudly supported.

Hi Mary Ann,
I am sorry I haven’t been in touch for some time. I am very sorry to have heard about Dave’s passing and I wanted to send my condolences to you. He will be missed greatly by Patrick and I. I frequently think about all the years we spent helping you and Dave with the businesses and taking care of the house. We had a great time doing that and have a lot of memories of those adventures. I really appreciate the help you both gave us too. I hope you are hanging in there and doing ok.
I am living out in Virginia but Patrick is still there in Gladstone. I get back to Kansas City once in a while. Let me know if you need help with anything and when the funeral might be. I would like to try to attend if possible. My phone number is 703-371-2816 in case you want to call. Take care and I hope to hear back from you.
