Chris Jennings
Christopher Lee Jennings, Sr., 65, of Kearney, MO passed away September 6, 2025.
He was born on October 12, 1959, to Virgil Dean and Dolores Loretta (Mooney) Jennings in North Kansas City, MO. Chris grew up in Holt, MO and attended Plattsburg High School in Plattsburg, MO.
On October 4, 1989, he was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Scott. After their marriage they lived in Kearney where they made their home. Barbara passed away on July 21, 2018.
Chris was certified in several vocations including welding and HVAC. He became a “learning coach” and was currently homeschooling his granddaughter, Lily. He enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking and loved being a full-time grandpa. Chris also enjoyed collecting tractors for his grandsons Hudson, Lane and Kade, visiting with his neighbors and late-night phone calls with his sister Leslie. Most of all Chris loved sharing his garden harvest with anyone he could and was an all-around family man, keeping up with his niece Sydney while she traveled with the Coast Guard.
He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Jennings, his parents Virgil and Dolores Jennings.
Chris is survived by his; son Christopher (Ashlee) Jennings; daughter, Crystal Jennings; grandchildren Hudson, Lane, Lily, and Kade Jennings; sister Leslie Jennings; niece Sydney Jennings; other relatives and friends.
Visitation 10:00-11:00 a.m. with Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. all Wednesday, September 10th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home in Smithville, MO.
Burial: Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Weston, MO.

Im so sorry you passed. I really wish I was there the last couple of years you had. I wish that you rest in peace with Granny B and your dog Lucas. I promise to take care of Lily and help her with school like you always did. we all love you.

Chris was a dear friend, we lost touch after highschool but reconnected a few years later. I was close to Chris and Barb ever since, Chris always knew how to bring a smile to your face. I will miss all the visits we had and only regret not getting together more often, I had plans of hanging out more after I retired. RIP old buddy, you will be missed
