Beverly Lee
Beverly J. Boydston Lee, of Plattsburg, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2026.
Beverly was born on September 7, 1929, to Paul W. and Helen Shewey Boydston in Trimble, Missouri. Raised with strong values of faith, family, and hard work, she carried those principles throughout her life and into every relationship she had.
On February 10, 1951, she married the love of her life, John C. “Johnny” Lee. Together they built a life on their fourth-generation family farm east of Plattsburg. For 25 years, Beverly and Johnny worked side by side operating Lee Oil Company, forming a true partnership in every sense of the word. She was Johnny’s helpmate—his steadfast companion, trusted confidante, and unwavering partner through every season of life.
Beverly devoted her life to serving others. Whether caring for family, lending a helping hand to friends and neighbors, or quietly meeting the needs of those around her, she found her greatest joy in giving of herself. Her kindness and generosity touched countless lives, leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire those who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny, on January 25, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Helen Boydston, her brother Dr. W. Wayne Boydston and an infant sister, Barbara Jean.
Those left to cherish Beverly’s memory include her sister, Sandra Shepard, with whom she shared not only a lifelong sisterhood but an extraordinary friendship. They were each other’s greatest supporters, and best friends throughout their lives. Beverly also leaves behind her treasured nieces and nephews—Michael Shepard, Tamara Shepard Cox, John Boydston, Paul Boydston, and Mary Boydston Gardner. To them, she was far more than an aunt; she was a cherished second mother whose love, guidance, encouragement, and unwavering presence helped shape their lives. Beverly also leaves many great, and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at First Christian Church in Plattsburg, Missouri, on Saturday, August 1 at 11:00. Visitation will take place at the church from 10:00-11:00 prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Lathrop Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church of Plattsburg or the Plattsburg Senior Center.

I was sad to hear of Beverly’s passing, but I know Johnny will be glad to see her again! Johnny and Beverley were the best neighbors a kid could ask for! Johnny was a big kid himself and had all the fun toys, while Beverly did her best to keep him in line, always doing so with style and grace. She will be missed.

We were so saddened to hear of Beverly’s passing.
Although we knew her through my mother-in-law, Dorothy Silvius, and only saw her during our visits home, Beverly always made a lasting impression. We would often see her at First Christian Church, and she was unfailingly kind, warm, and welcoming every time we met. She had a gentle way of making people feel remembered.

David, Sweiger and family
On behalf of David, Sweiger, son of Jim and Annadelle Sweiger and family here in the Seattle area, we would like to express what a wonderful kind, and caring person that Beverly was to our family. I always enjoyed visiting her on my trips back from the Seattle area to Plattsburg in recent years. As most are aware, Beverly and her husband Johnny, were very good friends with mom and dad and enjoyed many annual trips to Sanibel Island in Florida together in their retirement years. Beverly always had a smile, a kind word and deed ready for anyone she met along life’s way. She was truly a wonderful lady and a blessing to so many and a wonderful life example for all of us. She will be missed, but we know where she is, which is a comfort to us all. David, Sweiger, and family.
