Barbara Myers

Barbara Lenore Myers, 92, of Independence, MO, passed away June 8, 2026.

She was born on February 25, 1934, to Rueben Evander and Myrtle (Sandy) Thompson in Troy, KS where she grew up and graduated from Troy High School.

In 1953 she married John R. Henry of Gower, MO. They lived in Independence, MO and had four children Guye Allen, Vicki Rae, Dawn Renee, and Johnny Scott. She later married William Myers of Lee’s Summit, MO, where they lived, made their home and Barbara gained a daughter Janine Myers.

Barbara enjoyed life to the fullest and loved being with her family. Most of all she loved being Grandma Barbara.

She was preceded in death by her son Guye Allen Henry; her brothers Robert Thompson, Edgar Thompson, Curtis Thompson, and Ray Thompson; and her sisters Mildred Anderson, Donna McClain, and Ruby Thompson.

Barbara is survived by her children Vicki (Donald) Ameye, Dawn (Ray) Ruth and John Henry; grandchildren Stephanie (John) Cross, Ryan Ruth, Christopher (Candace) Sammons, Brandon Sammons (Erin Warner), Sarah (David) Taylor and Nathan Ameye (Darla Upchurch); several great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. with Funeral Services at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 13th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home in Gower.
Burial will be at Allen Cemetery, Gower, MO.
