Barbara Butler

Barbara Ann Butler, 87, of St. Joseph, MO formerly of Dyersburg, TN passed away September 1, 2026.

She was born on August 19, 1939, to Walter “Peanut” and Beulah Mae “Bill” (Becton) Brashier in Dyersburg, TN where she grew up and attended school. Barbara was the middle child of three. She spent her life in Dyersburg and in 2023, she moved to St. Joseph, MO to be closer to her family.

Barbara was a homemaker. She loved Elvis, gospel music, the color pink, collecting angels and she enjoyed cooking. Family was very important to her and above all she loved Jesus and would always say “I love everybody and everything”.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Cledus Butler; her sister Peggy Reeves; her brother Walter Brashier; her children James Rose III and Jamilu Nelson and her sons-in-law Larry Nelson and Everett Bennett.

Barbara is survived by her daughter Debbie Bennett of Rushville, MO; her son Cledus Butler, Jr. of Piedmont, MO; grandchildren Brittany Ann (Denton) Phillipe, Jessica (Josh) Tulley, Tristen (Andrea) McCampbell, and Rachel (Josh) Earnhart; great-grandchildren Cayden, Chandler, Tynan, Orion, Olyvea, Ian, Lily, Bennett, Payton, Aiden, Adalay, Michael, and Jessica; niece Vicki Misener; nephew John Nick Reeves; other relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank St. Joseph Senior Living and Mosaic Hospice for their loving care.

Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Monday, September 21st at Dyersburg Funeral Home in Dyersburg, TN.
Graveside Service will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, September 21st at Fairview Cemetery, Dyersburg, TN

Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 25th at St. Joseph Senior Living, St. Joseph, MO.
