Alan Steele

Alan Edward Steele, 62 found his final comfort on July 9, 2025 in his home surrounded by his loving family with the Royals game playing in the background, just as he wanted it.

Some of the things Alan could be found doing regularly is going for long walks by Smithville Lake and looking at all the trees. There wasn’t a tree he couldn’t identify. He had a true love for fresh air. Alan also was quite handy around the home, whether it was working on a kid’s car or entertaining one of his wife’s fixer upper ideas.

Alan worked for Black Hills Energy for 34 years and 8 months as a Principal Engineer, although he was never one for titles. Alan was not your typical engineer. So many of Alan’s colleagues described him as the go to problem solver and mentor. In Alan’s final days, he greatly enjoyed the visits from current and old coworkers, as well as all the cards and gifts he received, especially the handmade retirement clock. Each one brought a smile to his face. Our family wants to thank Black Hills for your tremendous support and caring you have given our entire family.

While Alan’s work was so important to him, he always put it down when he came home to his family. He was deliberately present for them. The time he dedicated to his four beautiful children (Ava Marie 24, Lucia Grace 23, Tyler Austin 22, and Tanner Greyson 19) was his most treasured. Alan did it all from helping with homework (or making sure it was done), to coaching teams, to playing endless hours of catch , to planning the perfect family vacations. He was the fun dad and true champion of their hobbies and interests. He may have even built them a stage to perform on their early “Swifty Era”. He truly was the heart of our family and was so very proud of each of them.

Alan and Tina celebrated their 13th anniversary by renewing their vows on July 4, 2025. Nothing fancy, just some last-minute dresses and a few tuxedo t-shirts, just like the first time they married. Their new home kept them quite busy with yard work, mowing, more mowing and cutting trees but they enjoyed every minute spent together. His presence made our house a true home.

While his presence will truly be missed, we will never forget his quick wit, solid advice and beautiful smile.

Alan will be laid to rest in a private family graveside service. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 26th starting at 6pm at the family’s home, 9210 Watt Ridge, Trimble, MO 64492.
