Woodrow Hornbeck
Woodrow Hornbeck, 88, of rural Platte City, MO, passed away, Tuesday, November 27, 2007.
He was born on March 18, 1919 to James Sanford and Etta Geneva (Johnston) Hornbeck near Weston, Missouri. Woodrow grew up and attended school in the Platte City area.
On November 2, 1940 he was united in marriage to Georgene O’Dell. After their marriage they lived in rural Platte City, near Camden Point, where they farmed and made their home. His wife, Georgene, passed away, June 5, 2004.
Woodrow worked at Helzer Cartage Trucking Company and later Navajo Trucking Company both in Kansas City.
He was a member of the Camden Point Baptist Church, the Camden Point Masonic Lodge #169 and Teamsters Local 552.
Woodrow was also preceded in death by his parents, one son, Ivan Dean Hornbeck in 1961, one brother, Will T. Hornbeck, and one sister, Ethel Bryan.
He is survived by daughters, Mary Hornbeck and Sue Morelock and husband, Bruce, all of Platte City, MO; grandsons, Lonnie Morelock and wife, Karen, Dearborn, MO, and Will Morelock and wife, Jennifer, Smithville, MO; four great-granddaughters, Sarah, Jenna, and Allison Morelock and Katelyn Morelock, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 30th at the Camden Point Baptist Church in Camden Point.
Burial: Camden Point Cemetery, Camden Point.
Masonic Services: 6:00 p.m. Thursday with visitation following until 8:00 p.m. at the church.
Arrangements Hixson-Klein Funeral Homes, Gower.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Camden Point Baptist Church.
