Wilma A. (Baker) Jones

 

Wilma A. Jones, 88, of Smithville, MO, passed away Monday, February 9, 2009.

She was born on October 21, 1920 to Samuel Franklin and Lura (Green) Baker in Long Lane, Missouri, where she grew up.

In 1938 she was united in marriage to Maurice “Bud” Jones. After their marriage they lived in Claycomo, Missouri. In 1949 they moved to Smithville where they made their home. Her husband, Bud, passed away in 1990.

Wilma worked for National Bellas Hess in Kansas City, and was later a cook for Spelman Hospital and St. Luke’s Northland Hospital both in Smithville.

She was also preceded in death by three children, Gene Jones, Carol Owens, and Charlotte Hudgins, and brothers, Frank, Arthur, and Paul Baker, sisters, Rachel Leclere, Ocie Green, Hildreth Pastern, and one grandson, Jimmy.

Wilma is survived by four sons, Carl Jones and wife, Betty, Earl Jones and wife, Janet, Donnie Jones and wife, Linda, and Ronnie Jones, all of Smithville; eight grandchildren, Donald, Samantha, Andrew, Garin, Barry, Shelley, Michael, and Jimmy; eight-great-grandchildren; one brother, David Baker and wife, Enola, Springfield, MO; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 12th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville with visitation from 12:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Burial: I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Smithville, MO.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Wilma’s memory in care of the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home.
