William C. “Bill” Wilson
William C. “ Bill” Wilson, 78, of Smithville, MO, passed away, Wednesday, March 7, 2012.
He was born on February 21, 1934 to Clarence and Margaret Wilson in Manchester, Oklahoma. He grew up in Anthony, Kansas and graduated from Anthony High School. Bill was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1956 and served as a Military Policeman. He joined the Kansas National Guard becoming an Officer in an Engineering Battalion. He was activated in 1968 and served as a Captain in the 1st Infantry Division in Vietnam. His decoration included three Bronze Stars. Bill worked for TWA for over 30 years, retiring in 1995.
On February 26, 1953 he was united in marriage to Sheila Fay Puls. After their marriage they lived in Harper, Kansas and in 1965 they moved to Smithville where they made their home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Avery Wilson.
Bill is survived by his wife Sheila, of the home; sons, Kim Wilson and wife Rebecca, Weston, MO, Stan Wilson and wife Teresa, Overland Park, KS; daughter, Cheryl Amos and husband Mike, Trimble, MO; seven grandchildren, Anastasia Sharp and husband Dave, Samantha, William and Corinne Wilson, Christopher Amos and Ben and Brad Tucker; great-grandson, Paul Sharp; brother, Jim Wilson and wife Barb, Murphy, NC and sister, Betty Hughbanks and husband Roger, Anthony, KS; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation: 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday, March 12th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.
Graveside Service following at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Ridgely Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans or the Smithville American Legion Post #58.
