William “Bill” Turner

William “Bill” Turner, 85, of Smithville, MO passed away Monday, December 15, 2014.

 

He was born on September 11, 1929 to William Lewis and Gertie Lee (Herndon) Turner in Camden Point, MO where he grew up and graduated from Camden Point High School.  Bill served his country in the US Army during the Korean War.

 

On May 25, 1951 he was united in marriage to Marjorie Yates.  After their marriage they lived in Kansas City and later moved to Smithville where they made their home.

 

Bill was a member of the Barry Christian Church in Kansas City, MO.  He was also a member of the American Legion VFW.  He enjoyed farming.

 

He was preceded in death by his father Lewis Turner, mother Gertie Lee Turner Buckler, step-father Truman Buckler, brother-in-law Forrest Anderson and sister-in-law Bernice Turner.

 

Bill is survived by his wife Marjorie Turner; sons Greg Turner and wife Donnis and Gary Turner and wife Kelly, all of Smithville; grandchildren Douglas Turner and wife Heather, Rebekah Turner, Bradley Turner and Stacey Mason and husband Tee; great-grandchildren Emily and Aiden Turner and Kaylee and A.J. Mason; brothers John Turner, Simeon Turner and wife Kay, and  Truman Lee Buckler and wife Betty; sisters Mary Lee Anderson, Darlene Buckler, Arlene Mrkvicka and husband Jerry and Norma Jean Buckler; several nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.

 

Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 19th at Barry Christian Church, Kansas City, MO.  

Visitation:  6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 18th at the church

Burial:  Camden Point Cemetery

Donations to the church.
