William “Bill” Tate

William E. “Bill” Tate, 90 of Gower, MO passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018.
 
He was born on April 1, 1927 to Thomas George and Katherine (Maddox) Tate in Trimble, MO where grew up and attended school in Grayson, MO.  He served his country in the US Army during WWII.
 
On July 29, 1947 he was united in marriage to Deloris Josephine Barnett.  After their marriage they lived in Plattsburg, Lathrop and in 1970 they moved to Gower where they made their home.  Deloris passed away on October 5, 2015.
 
Bill worked for Farmland Industries in Kansas City, MO where he retired in 1987.  After his retirement he went to work for his brother at Charles L. Tate Sodding for several years.  Bill loved playing his guitar and listing to country music.  Bill didn’t know a stranger and was mentor to many. He was a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa, brother and friend.  
 
He was a member of the Paradise Baptist Church and the Gower American Legion.
 
Bill was preceded in death by parents, his wife Deloris, daughter Idona, brothers Charles and T.J. Tate and sister Dixie Reich. 
He is survived by his children Charles Tate and wife Debbie, Nina Dowell, Janie Kahler and husband Brent; grandchildren Shannon Tate, Kristie (Parker) Hall, Chris  (Kristie) Barnhill, Jason (Mary) Barnhill, Kari, Khrystian, William, Riley, Addison, and Ainslie; great-grandchildren Casey, Arlie, Courtney, Colby, Bryson, Shane, Tara, Becky
and Kylie; brother Harry Tate, Ike Tate and wife Sandy, and Marion Tate; sister Lucy Dale; numerous nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends. 
 
Visitation:  6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 7th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower
Funeral Services:  11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 8th at the funeral home. 
Burial with Military Honors:  Grayson Cemetery
Donations may be made in his memory c/o Nina Dowell.
