William “Bill” Jones
William “Bill” Jones, 94, of Plattsburg, MO formerly of Smithville, MO passed away, Wednesday, April 17, 2019.
He was born on July 19, 1924 in Laramie, Wyoming where he grew up. Bill served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII.
On January 15, 1946 he was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Kueffer. After their marriage they lived in Casper, WY, the Kansas City area and eventually settled in Smithville in the late 50’s where they made their home. His wife passed away on January 2, 2015.
Bill was a cattleman and rancher most of his life. He retired from Clay County Parks Department, where he helped building the camp grounds for the lake. After his retirement Bill and his wife enjoyed traveling in their motor home. They traveled and saw much of the U.S. and Canada.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, Alma (Jones )Gott, Mary (Jones) Bundy, Howard Jones, Wilma (Jones) Murphy, Earle Jones, Merle Jones, James Jones, and his son, Fred.
Bill is survived his daughter, Martha Devers and husband Archie, Smithville, MO; grandchildren, Kelly Devers, and Amy Hyatt; great-grandchildren, Quintin and Kiefer Hyatt; Kenny and Sharon Tromp, who he resided with and loved; and his cat, Oreo.
Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 28th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville with visitation one hour prior to the service.
