William “Bill” Dean Wright

William Dean Wright 73, of Platte City, MO passed away June 16, 2017.
 
He was born April 30, 1944 to Eugene Miranda and Esther Lee (Turner) Wright in Bend, OR.  Bill grew up in Platte County graduated from Platte City High School.  He then received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from University of Kansas in 1966.  Bill served his county in the US Army during the Vietnam War.  
 
On September 5, 1965, he was united in marriage to Kathy Holt.  After their marriage, they lived in Platte County where they made their home.   
 
Bill was a lifelong farmer and also taught math and was a realtor.  In 1984, Bill and his family established Pumpkins Etc.  
 
He was involved with the Platte City United Methodist Church.  Bill served two terms for the Platte City School Board.  He enjoyed boating and skiing on the lake and was very active with his grandchildren.  
 
Bill was preceded in death by his parents. 
 
He is survived by his wife Kathy Wright of the home; children Jeff Wright and wife Heather, Jason Wright and wife Kim, Jenny Montgomery and husband Brian and Jane Wright; grandchildren Adelai, Piper, Isabelle, Camilla, Twiggs, Turner, Ebb, Nelson, William, Waylon, Johnny and Carrie; sister Eileen Edlin and husband Chris; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. 
 
Visitation: 5:30-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 20th at Platte City United Methodist Church 
Funeral Services:  10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 21st at the church.
Burial:  Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Weston, MO
Donations may be made to the church or Advanced Heart Care Fund at the University of Kansas Medical Hospital 2330 Shawnee Mission Parkway Suite 305 Westwood, KS 66205.
Arrangements:  Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville, MO.
