Wesley Turner Hoy
Wesley Turner Hoy, of Smithville, MO, passed away, Saturday, June 18, 2011 at his home.
He was born on June 5, 1924 to William Turner and Pearl (Brandenburg) Hoy at a rural farm near Parkville, Missouri. His elementary schools were the Graden school near Parkville and Rocky Point near Tiffany Springs in Platte County. He attended high schools at North Kansas City, Platte City and graduated from Parkville high school in 1942.
He then answered his country’s call in January 1943 and served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force in the Pacific Theater until honorably discharged in 1946 in California.
He eventually returned to Missouri and on June 20, 1952 was united in marriage to Irene L. Langley. After their marriage they lived in East Leavenworth (Platte County), rural Parkville (Barry Rd.), and in 1955 built their present residence near KCI and rural Smithville.
Wes worked as a driver salesman for Skelgas Division of Skelly Oil Company and later was a self-employed mechanic.
He was a longtime member of the Barry Christian Church and later Hoover Christian Church.
Wesley was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lee D. Hoy and J. Ronald Hoy; and son-in-law, Ray Maloney.
He is survived by his wife, Irene of the home, three children, Linda Maloney, Kansas City North MO, James W. Hoy and wife, Pat, Kearney, MO, and Mark L. Hoy and wife, Dawn, Blue Springs, MO; grandchildren, Kevin Maloney, Mallory Wishall and husband, Ben, Bret Hoy and Stephanie Park.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 21st at the Hoover Christian Church with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
Burial: Ridgely Cemetery
