Wendell D. Rosenbaugh

After a long and courageous battle, Wendell Dale Rosenbaugh, 73, of Smithville, MO, is enjoying his heavenly home with God, many loved ones, and friends. Wendell left this life to begin his new one on February 27, 2007.

He was born on September 23, 1933 in the Brookwood Community of Clay County to Elmer and Edria Rosenbaugh. He graduated from North Kansas City High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Marines Corps, serving honorably during the Korean War. After his military service, Wendell married and raised five children, Michael, Linda Pingleton, Joel, Jeff, and Lisa Johnston.

A man of deep faith, Wendell was a member of the Nashua Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher for many years. He was a member of the Rising Sun Masonic Lodge #13, a member of the Scottish Rite 32nd Degree, and was also a member of the Marine Corps League. He was a Boy Scout and served as a Scout Master for many years. Wendell was proud to be a lifelong Democrat and served Clay County as a State Representative from 1961-1964. Throughout his life he was very active in his community serving in many capacities, and participated in bringing about many positive changes.

He was an independent businessman who owned Duplicating Machines, Inc. and the Nashua Hardware Store before retiring to his farm in Smithville in 1998.

His deep love for God, his family, his friends and his country, along with his very positive outlook on life will be a legacy to all who knew him. In addition to his five children, Wendell is survived by twelve grandchildren, Cori, Chris, Katie, Ashley, Jordan, Megan, Brittany, Joshua, James, Nicole, Joel, and Joseph; five great-grandchildren, his brother, Elmer, three special step-children, Tricia Gentry, Mark Garner, and Tina Ens, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

Funeral Services: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 3rd at the First Baptist Church in Smithville.

Burial with Military Honors: White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Gladstone, MO.

Masonic Services: 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville, with visitation following until 8:30 p.m.
