Wanda Christine (Lash) Powell

Wanda Christine (Lash) Powell, 82, of Smithville, MO passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012.

She was born on June 11, 1930 to Christian Joseph and Lola (Davis) Lash in St. Joseph, MO. Wanda attended elementary school in Savannah and later graduated from Agency High School in 1948 as Valedictorian.

On June 4, 1952 she was united in marriage to Robert C Powell. After their marriage they lived in Plattsburg, MO and in 1959, they moved to Smithville, MO where they made their home. Her husband, Robert passed away on April 8, 1968.

Wanda worked for many years as an office manager for the Spelman Medical Center doctors office in Smithville.

She was an active member of the Smithville Baptist Church. She was a former board member of Smithville Housing Authority and was a member of the Rebecca Lodge in Agency.

Wanda was also preceded in death by her parents, and great-grandson, Jayden Ellis.

She is survived by her children, Garry Powell and wife Carla, Smithville, MO, Ronald Powell, Kansas City, MO, Curtis Powell and wife Karen, Smithville, MO, Dennis Powell, St. Joseph, MO, Ruth Ann Powell, Smithville, MO; fifteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; brother, Howard Lash and wife Clara, St. Joseph, MO; sisters, Ida May Curran, Savannah, MO, Helen Smith, Dearborn, MO; numerous nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 31^st at the First Baptist Church in Smithville.

Burial: Reed Cemetery, Trimble, MO

Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at the church
