Walter Wilhoit

Walter Wilhoit, 73, of Smithville, MO passed away April 23, 2018.

He was born on November 17, 1944 to Walter P. and Etta Marie (King) Wilhoit in Smithville, Missouri. 

He grew up in Smithville where he attended school.On October 29, 1966 he was united in marriage to Carmen Elena Mier Rivas.   After their marriage they lived in Smithville and in 1974 they moved to Trimble, MO where they made their home.

Walter retired from North Kansas City Hospital in 2008 after 28 years of service. 

 He was a lifelong member of Community of Christ.  Walter was very dedicated to the church, working with several groups including the Forever Young Seniors. 

Walter was preceded in death by his parents Walter P. and Etta Marie Wilhoit; brother Darrell Wilhoit; sisters Waltin L. Lynn, Joyce Wilhoit and Arlette Tenant; and grandson Wade Wilhoit. He is survived by his wife Carmen Wilhoit; children John Wilhoit, and Walter “Nick” Wilhoit and wife Susan; grandchildren Emma and Jackson Wilhoit; Virginia Kay Rising and husband Robert; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service Saturday, April 28th at Community of Christ, north of Smithville.

Burial: Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Smithville

Donations may be made to the church. Arrangements Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.
