Walter “Butch” Thompson
Walter “Butch” Thompson, 69, of Smithville, MO passed away, Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at his home.
He was born on June 18, 1948 to Walter Amos and Bernice (Reynolds) Thompson in Britt, Iowa. Walt grew up in Britt, Iowa and Leavenworth, KS where he graduated high school.
Walt lived in the Leavenworth and Kansas City area and worked for the Nazarene Publishing House for many years.On May 21, 2005 he was united in marriage to Becky Asher. After their marriage they lived in Smithville where they made their home.
He was a member of the Nashua Baptist Church in Kansas City.
Walt was an avid outdoorsman and truly loved to work on the farm for John, Kay and Mark Callison.
Walt was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Carol.
He is survived by his wife, Becky, of the home; children, grandchildren, great grandchildren; sisters, Linda Davis, Rita Rogers and husband George, Donna Maiden, and Becky McManus and husband Terry; other relatives and many friends.
Memorial Service: 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 28th at Nashua Baptist Church, Kansas City, MO with visitation one-hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church.
