Virginia May (Allen) Porter
Virginia May Porter, 86, of Branson, formerly of Kearney, Trimble, and Holt, passed away, Friday, June 13, 2008.
She was born on March 1, 1922 to Charles Franklin and Aletha Arrat (Logsdon) Allen in Sheraton, Wyoming. She grew up in Liberty, attended Liberty High School and graduated from Platte City High School.
On November 15, 1941 she was united in marriage to Tommie Cecil Porter. After their marriage they lived in Kansas City, Kearney, Trimble and near Holt. In 1993 her husband, Tommie, passed away, and in 2002 Virginia returned to Kearney.
Virginia worked for North American Aviation in Fairfax, and later worked as a CNA at Spelman Hospital in Smithville for 22 years.
She was a member of the Stony Point Presbyterian Church and also attended First Christian Church of Kearney. She enjoyed painting and sewing.
Virginia was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Loeva, her parents, one sister, nine brothers, and her grandson, Terrance Porter.
She is survived by one son, Thomas “Tom” Charles Porter and wife, Cindy, Branson; one daughter, Karen Sue Porter, Liberty; seven grandchildren, Sheri, Jonna, Timothy, Christina, Trevor, Amanda, and Calvin, twenty-two great-grandchildren; and expecting her first great-great-granddaughter, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 17th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.
Burial: Stony Point Cemetery, Trimble, MO.
Visitation: 6:30-8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
