Virginia Lee Mulkey
Virginia Lee Mulkey, age 94, passed away July 1, 2021.
She was born May 29, 1927, in Platte County Missouri, she was the daughter of Clarence Jacob and Hazel Eileen (Randall) Hunt.
Virginia graduated from Parkville High School. Virginia married James K. Mulkey on November 1, 1947. She retired from Southwestern Bell after a long career as a telephone operator. Virginia and James raised their sons in Kansas City, Missouri and following retirement enjoyed many years in Cameron, Missouri and Kearney, Missouri. Virginia had many friends and loved visiting with people she knew everywhere she went. She spent many hours crocheting, canning vegetables from her garden, and cooking for large family dinners. Virginia enjoyed traveling and took many trips throughout her life. Virginia’s greatest joy was spending time with her husband and family. She was an amazing mother, sister and grandmother.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, James K. Mulkey; son Jerald Kenneth “Kenny” Mulkey; sisters Mildred Johnson, Frances Springs, Mary Ruth Brannen and brother Clarence Junior Hunt.
Virginia is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law James K. (Beverly) Mulkey and Jon Kevin (Debbie) Mulkey; daughter in law Roberta Mulkey; brothers Okal (Clair) Hunt, Marlin (Peggy) Hunt; numerous nieces and nephews; twelve grandchildren Kathy Hulen, Brian Boles, Jeremy Mulkey, Alli Faulkner, Erich Clay, Josh Mulkey, Tammy Young, Jason Mulkey, Andrea Kennison, Kyle Mulkey, Christie Nance and Vincent Harmon and spouses; twenty-four great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren.
Visitation is from 10 AM to 11 AM with funeral services to follow at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at Hixon-Klein Funeral Home in Smithville, MO.
Burial in Platte City Cemetery, Platte City, MO to follow.
