Virgina May (Cordray) Troya

Virginia May Troya, 82, of Smithville, MO, formerly of Kansas City passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012.

She was born on May 1, 1930 to Charles Monroe and Florence (Packham) Cordray in Brookfield, MO where she grew up.

On January 15, 1949 she was united in marriage to Anthony J. Troya. After their marriage they lived in Kansas City and in 1980 moved to Smithville where they made their home. Her husband, Tony, passed away January 13, 2007.

Virginia worked as a nanny for several years in the Smithville area. She was a longtime member of the Smithville Baptist Church.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Marshall and Jack.

Virginia is survived sons, Michael Troya, Smithville, Frank Troya, St. Joseph, MO; daughters, Linda Hausback, Miller, MO, Vicky Cook and husband Bill, Smithville, MO, and Angela Gutierrez, Kansas City, MO; ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Kelsey, Liberty, MO and Minnie DeWeese, Brunswick, MO; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Memorial Service: 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 19th at the First Baptist Church, Smithville.

    I had the pleasure of meeting Jenny and Tony several years ago when I waitressed at Harmers Cafe. I became their “favorite” waitress and even visited them a few times at their home. I lost touch but always thought a lot of both of them. My thoughts are with the family.
