Virgil McDonald

Virgil McDonald, 85, of Gower, MO passed away, December 13, 2020.

He was born on August 13, 1935 to Howard and Anna Lucille (Harris) McDonald in Whitesville, MO. He grew up in St. Joseph and attended Lafayette High School. Virgil served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 8 years.

Virgil was united in marriage to Mary Ruth Newlon. After their marriage they lived in St. Joseph and in 1968 they moved to Gower where they made their home. His wife, Mary Ruth, passed away, August 5, 2018.

Virgil worked for G.A. Thompson for 40 years and was a member of Local 98 Painters Union. Virgil and Mary Ruth enjoyed bowling and they loved following their children and grandchildren sports and activities. 

 He was preceded in death by his parents.

Virgil is survived by his children, David McDonald and wife Jana, Danny McDonald and Danielle Burdg and husband Eric; grandchildren Andrew McDonald and wife Beth, Lucas Powers and wife Shae, Evan McDonald, Lauren McDonald, Alexis McDonald, Chandler Burdg, and Julia Burdg; great-granddaughter Madalynn Hayes, Judah McDonald, Boston McDonald, Mack Hayes, Dax Powers, Krisley Burdg, Alexus Hayes, and Jayden Hayes; cousins, Joe Ann Brott and Betty Jo Hellerich; other relatives and many friends.

 Family Services will be held at a later date.

Friends may sign the register book at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home through Saturday, December 19th.
