In Remembrance Of
Violet Goodpaster
Violet Dawn (Galbreath) Goodpaster, 97, of Weston, MO entered heaven to join her beloved husband of 72 years on March 25, 2020. She was surrounded by her devoted family. Violet was a Christian and attended the Church of the Nazarene.
Her favorite prayers were Our Father and The Lord’s Prayer.
Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Morgan; her parents, Earl and Anna Louise (Smith) Galbreath; sons, David Goodpaster and Michael Goodpaster; granddaughters, Shelby Diane Goodpaster; great-grandsons, Jason Goodpaster and Zachariah Goodpaster.
Violet was married at the age of 14 to Morgan Daily Goodpaster on June 19, 1937 in Marion Indiana. It was a double ceremony with his brother Ambers Goodpaster and her 16-year-old friend, Earlene Bisher. From this union came seven children: Anna Pearl (John) Cox, Charlene (Everett) Bishop, Billie Jean (Allen) Lovelady, J.B. (Ann) Goodpaster, Becky (John) O’Connor, David (Judy) Goodpaster, and Michael (Karen) Goodpaster.
Violet leaves behind thirty-three grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; fifteen great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Earl (Judy) Galbreath and Joe (Helen) Galbreath; and many relatives and friends in Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, and Missouri.
Violet was an amazing, beautiful and strong woman, who was much loved. Her life was a blessing to all who knew her. She enjoyed sewing. She made many lovely quilts for family members, aprons, hats, children’s clothes, and prize-winning costumes. Violet was a generous, loving, forgiving person who believed in helping others. She enjoyed reading, and when no longer able because of her eyesight, she enjoyed Walfner Library Audio Books.
Family celebrations were important to her. In family prayer she always encouraged family members to love and care for each other and to remember to help those in need. We were blessed with a loving supportive family. She always wanted to feed everyone who came to visit. She was a caregiver to all and kept an interest in the lives of her family. She never lost her sense of humor and always thanked everyone who helped her.
During her lifetime she worked in restaurants, as a nurse’s aide, and private sittings. She enjoyed helping the elderly and children. Violet was able to persuade a young woman who was considering abortion not to do it and helped her friend find someone who gave the boy a loving home. Her life’s motto has always been faith, family and friends.
Through many dangers, toils, and snares we have already come. Tis grace that brought us safe thus far and grace will lead us home. Violet is now in her forever home.Beloved one, you are treasured in our own hearts forever. God be with you ‘til we meet again.
The family is grateful to Dr. Jessica Yoakam and her entire staff in the St. Luke’s Health Care System.
A special thanks to all the staff of St. Luke’s Hospice especially to Gwen and Gracie for their outstanding loving care they gave our mom.
Graveside service will be held at a later date.

So much I could say, but the most precious gift you ever gave me was choosing to always love me. You were the absolute model for love and family and I hope to continue that legacy.
A special thank you to Aunt Anna and Aunt Charlene, two of our favorite “3 Seniors”, for taking care of your each and every need, each and every day.
Love, hugs and prayers to all that were fortunate to have been loved by you. I will always be grateful for having the privilege to be part of your amazing family.
