Vernon Alvin Kever, Sr.

Vernon Alvin Kever, Sr., 63, of Edgerton, MO passed away Saturday, January 26, 2013.

 

He was born on April 19, 1949 to Opie Melvin and Dorthea Dora (Bittle) Kever in Heber Springs, AR.  Vernon grew up and attended school in the Kansas City area. 

 

Vernon married the love of his life Brenda Joyce Kent on May 14, 2005 in North Kansas City, MO.  After their marriage they made their home in Edgerton. 

 

He retired as a truck driver from Tri County Concrete.  Bear had a passion for motorcycles and loved riding with Pokie.  They participated in many rides to benefit children.

 

Vernon was preceded in death by his father, son Kevin Douglas Tanck and a brother Edward Wayne Kever.

 

He is survived by his wife Brenda “Pokie” Kever; children, Vernon A. Kever, Jr., Shannon Marie Kever, Mary Conrad and husband Marc, and Paul Tanck and wife Shala; grandchildren Logan, Kenzie Lou, Thomas, Domanic and Alexis; his mother, Dorthea Terranova; step-mother, Charlessa Ann Seward; brothers, Bert Kever and wife Sherry, Melvin Kever and wife Debra and Gary Lee Cameron; sisters, Leslie Lynn Clark and husband Ralph, Cheryl and Brenda; brothers-in-law, Steve Kent and wife Vicky and Chuck Kent; uncle, Colby Kever and wife, Adrian; several nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.     

 

Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Wednesday January 30th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville

Burial:  Ridgely Cemetery

Visitation:  6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
