VELMA L. JACKSON

Velma L. Jackson, 86, of Edgerton, Mo., passed away, January 18, 2006 at Liberty Hospital.

She was born on September 29, 1919 to Roy and Mamie Ambie (Quinn) Divelbiss near Starfield, Mo. where she grew up and in 1937 graduated from Gower High School.

On November 22, 1943 she was united in marriage to Charles W. Jackson. After their marriage they lived in California and in 1945 they moved to Edgerton where they made their home. They owned and operated a Poultry House in Edgerton and Velma was also a substitute rural mail carrier.

She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church and the Daniel-Shafer American Legion Post Auxiliary, both in Edgerton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles on September 2, 1996, her parents, a brother, Howard Divelbiss and a sister Helen Everett.

She is survived by a son: Lawrence Jackson and wife, Mary, Edgerton, Mo., a daughter Jean McMain and husband, Stan, Trimble, Mo., four grandchildren, Jason Jackson, Julia Jackson, Mark McMain and Eric McMain, two sisters, Dorothy Enslow, Dearborn, Mo., and Joan Brown, Warsaw, Mo., several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Friday, Jan. 20th, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Edgerton, Mo. Visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial: Allen Cemetery, Gower.
Donations to Mt. Zion Baptist Church Building Fund or North Platte Foundation.
Arrangements: Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Edgerton, Mo.
