In Remembrance Of
Trung Ngoc Nguyen
Trung Ngoc Nguyen, 58, of Sunland, CA, passed away August 4, 2011.
He was born September 25, 1952 in Ba Xuyen, Vietnam. He grew up in war torn Vietnam and as a young man joined the Navy. He fled his native Vietnam in April 1975, the day before Saigon fell, on his Navy ship. He ended up at a Vietnamese Refugee Camp in Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania and volunteered to run the camp’s movie projectors. There he met his partner and followed his partner thoughout his career. Trung has lived in eleven different American cities, fathered a son, and worked as a busboy, T-shirt printer, alarm system installer, warehouse manager and as Los Angeles Valley College’s equipment manager for the last 26 years. He earned an associate of arts degree in electronics at Valley.
Trung did a wide array of tasks for the football team; from sewing jerseys, organizing equipment, taking inventory, and doing laundry all the way to electrical issues and field repair. He was a jack of all trades for the team. No task was too large or small and he was greatly appreciated by many people at Valley. He acquired the nickname T-Bone from the football coaches and players several years ago, because one of his many talents was the ability to cook "a mean steak."??? His sunny personality invoked smiles and laughter from all who know him.
Trung is survived by his long time partner, Brent Mead; his son, Zachary Weber; and a host of friends, coaches and players.
