Tommy Pendergrast

Tommy Ray Pendergrast, 76, of Weston, MO passed away, April 16, 2024.

He was born on June 22, 1947, to Lawrence Allen and Wilma Lorene (Callaway) Pendergrast in Smithville, MO. Tommy grew up and attended school in Lawson and Liberty and he graduated from Liberty High School in 1965. He served his country in the United States Army as a SPC 4 during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge, Tommy returned to Liberty and in 1977 he moved to Weston where he made his home. 

While in Weston, Tommy worked as a city letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, which he retired from in 1995. He was a member and past Post Commander of the VFW Post 324 in Weston. He was also a life member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, and had been a friend of Bill W. and Doctor Bob since January 1985.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Larry Pendergrast; his brother-in-law, Jack Looney and his nephew, Johnny Allen Pendergrast.

He is survived by his special and life-long friend, Darlene Johnston; his sisters, W. Kay Looney and Wanda Jean Hollaway and husband Tom; his nephews, Thomas Pendergrast and Scot Pendergrast; his dog, Lucy; other relatives and many friends. 

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 24th at Christian Assembly Church in Weston, MO with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Burial: 12:30 p.m. at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS.

Donations may be made to the Christian Assembly Church.

    We have lost such a great man..an amazing friend to all! Tom always tried to bting everyone together..at the family reunions he otganized..and any gathering he attended. I loved to listen to allnof his life stories. He is gone..but will never be forgotten. R.I.P. .
