Tom R. Perry

 

Tom R. Perry, 78, of Smithville, MO, passed away, Thursday, June 3, 2010.

He was born on February 11, 1932 to Thomas Richard and Barbara Alice (Rockenstein) Perry in Kansas City, Missouri. He grew up and attended school in Kansas City and graduated from Southeast High School. He then served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and attained the rank of corporal.

On November 6, 1954 he was united in marriage to Kathleen Frisbie. After their marriage they lived in Kansas City. In 1963 they moved to the farm near Smithville with their three children.

Tom worked for TWA for 38 years, retiring as an Instrument Mechanic on May 1, 1990. Tom’s interest in collecting TWA memorabilia led to his founding of the TWA Museum.

He was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, where he was an usher for many years. Tom served as an assistant Scout Master of Troop 412 and became an honorary member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathleen, of the home; son, Tom Perry and wife, Tam, Hillsboro, KS, daughter, Kris Lager and husband, Kelly, Colo, IA; son, Tim Perry and wife, Judith, Kansas City, MO; nine beloved grandchildren, Charles, Clara Kathleen “Logi”, Sarah, Hannah, Lucy, Isaac, Jessie, Claire, and David; sister, Marianne Morales, Harrisonville, MO; brother, Dan S. Perry and wife, Betty, Sun Lakes, AZ; brother-in-law, Lee Frisbie and wife, Marilyn, Olathe, KS; sister-in-law, Pat Frisbie, Kansas City, MO; seven nephews and two nieces; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services: 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 7th at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Smithville.

Burial with Military Honors: Goss Cemetery

Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday at the church.
