Shirley B (Wilhoit) Snow

   

Shirley B (Wilhoit) Snow, 69 of Platte City, MO, passed away, Friday, February 1, 2013 at her home.

 

She was born on July 25, 1943 to Clarence Estil and Sylvia Veronica (Fattig) Wilhoit in Paradise, MO.  Shirley grew up and attended school in Smithville, MO. 

 

On December 11, 1959 she was united in marriage to Melvin Virgil “Spud” Snow.  After their marriage they lived in Smithville and in 1971 moved to Tracy where they raised their family.  In 1995 they moved to Platte City, MO where they made their home.  Her husband Spud passed away on July 30, 2012.

 

Shirley worked as a self-employed house cleaner for many years.  She also enjoyed working as a carpenter with her husband Spud.  She was an active member of the Landmark Baptist Church in Smithville where they helped build the church.

 

She loved to travel, look at antiques and hunt mushrooms. Shirley enjoyed sitting outside on sunny days and spending time with her family.  She also loved telling stories about the good old days and her childhood. 

 

Shirley was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, John Wilhoit, Harry Wilhoit and Elmer Wilhoit; and one sister, Anne Aker.

 

She is survived by son, Sonny (Debbie) Snow; daughter, Kelly (Kris) Rukavina, all of Platte City, MO; six grandchildren, Crystal, Troy, Kevin, Casey, Amber, and Alyssa; six great-grandchildren, Zachary, Kylie N., Kylie S., Hayden, Riley, and Trent; sisters, Mary Quinn, Lathrop, MO and Linda Rule, Smithville, MO; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

 

Funeral Service:  10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 6th  at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.

Burial:  Paradise Cemetery, Smithville, MO

Visitation:  6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Donations may be made to the Landmark Baptist Church.

    I was married to Bud Snow for 18 1/2yrs. in that time Spud & Shirley and us used to have a lot of fun together They were enjoyable,and pleasant to be around. I know they are both in a better place, and together again. My prayer,and thoughts are with the rest of family.
