Sabena Fiocchi Verdi

God calls us one by one as he did Sabena Fiocchi Verdi, age 98, on September 12, 2011 at the Gower Missouri Convalescent Center.

Sabena was the last of nine children, born to Agnese and Robert Fiocchi. Her childhood was spent in Vineland, New Jersey with a close loving Italian family. After marriage to Michael Verdi, they resided in Brooklyn, New York for 45 years and at retirement returned to Vineland, New Jersey. At the age of 93 Sabena moved to Missouri to be near her son and family. Her strong Italian will and positive attitude allowed her to remain healthy until the last year. The candle of her memory will always burn brightly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael, parents, brothers and sisters. She leaves her beloved son Robert (Judith) Verdi; dearest granddaughter, Robin (Rudy) Casanova; great-grandchildren, Remington Adair and Ridge Michael of Prosper, Texas; many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express their gratitude toward the devoted staff at the Gower Convalescent Center and Three Rivers Hospice.

The Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2011 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Minitola, New Jersey. Viewing one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers and in her memory donations may be made to the Gower Convalescent Center, Gower, Missouri.
