Ruth Joann (Phelps) Baker
Ruth Joann Baker, 72, of Edgerton, MO, formerly of Dearborn, MO., passed away, Friday, June 20, 2008.
She was born on July 27, 1935 to Chester Scot and Opal Bernice (Bromley) Phelps near Maysville, MO.
In May of 1972 she was united in marriage to Donald H. Baker. After their marriage they lived in Kansas City and later moved to Dearborn where they made their home.
Joann worked as a bookkeeper for many years.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dearborn. She loved traveling with Prime 55 and taking care of her poodle “Tippy”.
Joann was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
She is survived by one daughter, Vivian McCorkle and husband, Richard, Smithville, MO; one grandson, Richard Damon McCorkle, Palm Desert, Calif.; step-daughter, Brenda Kay Pinner and husband, Jacksonville, Florida; two sisters, Lois Murphy Edgerton, MO., and Bertie Trosper and husband Mitch, Ft. Scott, Kansas; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
VISITATION: 6:30-8:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 24th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Edgerton, MO
Donations: First Baptist Church, Dearborn, MO.
Inurnment will be held at a later date.
