Ruth Anna West

Ruth Anna West, 94, of Gladstone, MO formerly of Edgerton, MO passed away December 16, 2014. 

 

She was born on August 26, 1920 to Homer and Willie Mae (Cozine) Scott in Los Angeles, CA.  In 1937 the family moved back to Edgerton, MO where she later graduated from high school.

 

On January 17, 1939 she was united in marriage to Earl “Toad” West and for fifty-three years they lived north of Edgerton where they operated a registered Holstein dairy farm and raised tobacco as well as traditional crops and livestock farming.  In 1992 they moved to Gladstone, MO.  They shared sixty-three years of married life together.  Her husband, Earl, preceded her in death on May 4, 2002.

 

Ruth Anna was a 4-H leader and a farmer’s wife.  She was involved in activities of The National Farmer’s Organization, the Edgerton volunteer fire department and other organizations over the years.  She was an avid quilter, and accomplished amateur artist, family genealogist and enjoyed many hobbies and crafts.

 

She was also preceded in death by her daughter Patsy Steinman and grandson James Steinman.

 

Her legacy lives on with her three sons, Tim West and wife Sharon, New Hampton, MO,  Ted West and wife Ann, Paola, KS  and Tom West and wife Lori, St. Joseph, MO; daughter  Janet White and husband Ed, Gladstone, MO; son-in-law Bill Steinman, Lead Hill, AR; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

 

Memorial Service:  11:00 a.m. Friday, December 19th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower with visitation one hour prior to the service. 

Private family inurnment Allen Cemetery, Gower.
