Ronald Lee “Poochie”” Davis”
Ronald Lee “Poochie” Davis, 74, of St. Joseph, MO, passed away, Monday, December 22, 2008 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
He was born on July 13, 1934 to Clyde Alexander and Mary Beulah (Findley) Davis in Gower, MO, where he grew up and graduated from Gower High School. He then served his country in the U.S. Army. Poochie later attended Missouri Western State College where he received his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice.
On February 8, 1957 he was united in marriage to Carol Jean Harris. After their marriage they lived in St. Joseph where they made their home.
Poochie retired as a Detective Sergeant for the St. Joseph Police Dept. in 1987. After his retirement he worked for the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office in St. Joseph, and Hillyards Vocational School.
Poochie was a member of the St. James Catholic Church in St. Joseph. He was also a member of the Amateur Radio Club, a 32nd Degree member of the Scottish Rite, Fraternal Order of Police, the Brotherhood Lodge 269, and the American Legion Post 359 all in St. Joseph.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Robbie, Raymond, Roy, and Richard Davis, and sister, Mary Margaret Cooper.
Poochie is survived by his wife, Carol, of the home; daughters, Kelly Davis and Tracey Rae Davis, both of St. Joseph; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 27th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial with Military and Police Honors: Allen Cemetery, Gower.
