Ronald Dean Rupe

Ronald Dean Rupe, 66 of Lathrop, MO, formerly Hiawatha, KS, passed away, Thursday, September 26, 2013 at his home.

 

He was born on October 30, 1946 to Lee and Hazel Lavel (Jones) Rupe in Coffeyville, KS.  He grew up in Hiawatha, KS where he graduated high school.  He then attended Ottawa University in Lawrence, KS where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with a Minor in Education. 

 

Ronald served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  He continued his military career and retired from the National Guard as a Master Sergeant after 28 years of service.  Ron was a member of the VFW in Wathena.

 

In 1990 he was united in marriage to Geri (Ruberton) Messenger.  After their marriage they lived in Hiawatha, KS, Smithville, MO, and retired to Lathrop, MO.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Michael Rupe.

 

Ronald is survived by his wife, Geri, of the home; brother, Richard Rupe and wife Lori; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

 

Visitation:  10:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct 3rd at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Edgerton

Graveside Service:  12:30 p.m. Thursday at Leavenworth National Cemetery.

    Ron Rupe (whom I knew as Master Sergeant Rupe) was a good and caring man. He will be missed. May God shine His eternal light upon him and give consolation to his family.
