Roger Callahan
Roger Callahan, 78, of Pleasant Valley, MO passed away, Thursday, May 9, 2019.
He was born on February 8, 1941 to Kermit Selby and Cleta Evelyn (Suiter) Callahan in Clinton, MO. He grew up near Smithville and graduated from Smithville High School. Roger attended Highland Community College where he played football. He then served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.
On November 29, 1979 he was united in marriage to Connie Anne Matthews. After their marriage they lived in Smithville, Lawson, Liberty, Pacific City, OR and in 1998 they moved to Pleasant Valley where they made their home. His wife, Connie, passed away December 16, 2017.
Roger was a truck driver and a member of the Teamsters Union Local 41 for over 30 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Roger was also preceded in death by his parents and his son, Michael L. Godfrey.
Roger is survived by his children, Johnny (Shari) Godfrey, Kelly (Jeff) Peterson, John Ramirez, and David Schrage; seven grandchildren, Summer, Sharon, Seth, Sean, Amanda, John, and Daphne; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Russell (Helen) Callahan, Selby (Joyce) Callahan, and James Callahan; sisters, Marna Patterson and Melva (Gary) Ashlock; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Burial: Smith Cemetery, Smithville, MO.
